Position Overview
This role is a critical, multi-disciplinary role within the tax group. The role focuses primarily on tax accounting, requiring a high proficiency in
financial accounting/reporting as a pre-requisite. The role involves the accounting for the JV’s complex corporation tax, supplementary
charge and PRT position. Monthly, quarterly and annual tax accounting duties fall under the Tax Accountant role, in addition, the role will
also involve statutory accounting work (including tax calculation and disclosure). Keeping up to date with accounting standards and close
interaction with Finance colleagues is an essential part of the role. In addition to tax financial reporting, the Tax Accountant will also be
involved in the tax compliance activity, thereby assisting in the preparation of tax computations and returns where considered appropriate –
as such, the role requires some understanding of general tax mechanics. The Tax Accountant will have interactions with shareholders and
JV leadership, therefore professional capability and approach are important. The Tax Accountant can also act as a facilitation role for nonfinancial
reporting works such as Senior Accounting Officer works, EITI and EU Accounting Directive responsibilities. The Tax Accountant
will report to the Senior Tax Specialist.
Accountabilities
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual income statement taxes (CT & PRT) – current and deferred taxes
• Preparation and review of JV’s balance sheet monthly, quarterly and annually – current and deferred taxes
• Management of SOX and accounting controls (including IMS system for Tax group)
• Tax movement for shareholders’ monthly Fiscal Report
• EITI and EU Accounting directive compilation, review and submission work – including any external reconciliation follow up work
• Maintain a firm understanding of the threat Cyber Attacks pose in both regular IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational
Technology / industrial automation) environments and the potential consequences of such attacks
Key Duties
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual CT credit/charge, FX revaluations plus balance sheet quantification/justification
• Deferred Tax Asset computation, reconciliation and rationalisation/justification work
• Engagement with Accenture Bangalore to upload results – with JV cross check
• Continuity schedule preparation
• Summarised Tax Pack preparation for Tax Manager and Shareholders
• Quarterly SOX monitoring and checklist review & sign off
• Annual IMS process review work
• Statutory accounting support work – calculation, analysis work and disclosure support
• EITI annual tax payment review and template population, with overview to CFO & GM Finance & GM Corporate Affairs
• EU Accounting Directive submission via Companies House
• Senior Accounting Office (SAO) process facilitation plus presentation to CFO & GM Finance
Education Attainment & Accreditation
• Relevant financial reporting professional qualification (CA or ACCA preferred)
Professional Skills & Experience
• Strong technical accounting proficiency
• SAP and BW familiarity a pre-requisite
• Highly numerate
• Attention to detail/accuracy focused
• Significant oil & gas tax technical experience
• Ability to work under time constraints
• A structured and clear approach to working, enabling issues and risks to be properly identified and managed
