The Scheduler / Planner (Outage) position is intended for an individual with extensive experience and advanced subject matter knowledge in Power Plant maintenance and scheduling/planning of maintenance activities. This knowledge can be gained through prior experience or a combination of college/technical training and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Promote safety by assuring that all safety rules and regulations are followed including the coordination and supervision of equipment isolation and tagging procedures.
- Communicate and lead in accordance with company vision and core values. Strong competencies in communication, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Develop and draft written maintenance plans (PM’s) for the plant.
- Conduct outage and or weekly maintenance scheduling while helping establish plant maintenance priorities in accordance with Plant Operations’ needs.
- Determine and schedule necessary resources using Primavera P6, PasTA, SAP e.g. supplies, materials, parts, and special tools or equipment required to perform maintenance inspections and/or work.
- Interpret technical manuals, sketches, prints, instructions, manufacturer’s data and equipment history records while incorporating the applicable information in developing maintenance plans.
- Track and update schedule daily, communicate updates to Stakeholders, provide daily reports, and integrate Field Change Requests into schedule updates
- Provide Schule Look-Ahead and resource histograms. Have a strong ability to provide man-power forecasts.
- Plan work. Includes costing, manpower and time estimates, and re-evaluates estimates to reflect changing job requirements and prepares job sequence requirements for major plant projects and for specific maintenance work.
- Be able to produce concise schedule variance reports based on approved Key Performance Metrics.
- Provide Primavera P6 training to other planners as part of personnel development.
- Lead schedule review meetings with various Stakeholders in Engineering, Operations, Corporate Outage Team, and Contractors. Ensure critical path activities are optimized and WBS defined while consulting with the key stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve schedule conflicts.
- Analyze and update SAP on actual versus estimated time, equipment, and manpower requirements.
- Establish and validate estimates for recurring maintenance work using historical knowledge and leveraging the experience of peers and Supervisors.
- Be able to establish a working relationship with OEMs to address matters concerning the servicing, assembly, or maintenance of equipment.
- Initiate / update notifications, work orders, BOM’s, PM’s and support all assigned work (including major scheduled or forced outages planning and execution) and participate in developing weekly plans
- Coordinate with Procurement and vendors to request/receive information and to expedite the approval of documents and the delivery of materials.
- Collateral duties and special projects as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
- Support the implementation of company's policies and procedures.
- Develop and assist others in the development of technical / engineered work packages.
- Fill in for the Planner, Outage Coordinator, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager when needed.
- Participate in spare parts optimization initiatives, criticality ranking, and development of maintenance strategies.
- Normal power plant environment and/or out of doors work environment. Includes working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations.
- Requires operation of a motor vehicle; Valid State Driver’s License.
- Regular extended and non-standard hours during critical issue resolution and to achieve project milestones. This may at times involve working night shift hours and/or weekends.
- Able to perform occasional travel to Corporate locations and other company plants
- Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, earplugs, fall protection etc.)
- Requires working around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
- Requires operation of a personal computer.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 5 years’ experience in maintenance planning and scheduling
- 2-3 years of experience working with SAP or other CMMS programs
- Determine and schedule necessary resources using Primavera P6, PasTA, SAP e.g. supplies, materials, parts, and special tools or equipment required to perform maintenance inspections and/or work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a related field
- 5-7 years of working experience in power plants
- Project Management certification is considered a plus
