Airswift is seeking a CSU Process Control Specialist to work with one of our major clients in the Oil & Gas industry in Kitimat, BC. This is a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension.

 

About the Role

The purpose of the CSU Support - Process Control Specialist Engineer is to support process control and safeguarding functionality for safe, reliable and efficient operation of the company's facilities in Commissioning and Start-up phases allowing to further fully sustain in the Operate phase. This includes - controller performance improvement, tuning and systematic plant troubleshooting. Culture of continuous improvement as well as technological improvements for performance enhancement for the entire facility will be a differentiator.

 

To be successful, you will have:

  • University degree or equivalent in Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical engineering, Applied Physics or Mathematics and 5+ years of relevant industry experience with demonstrated process control skills and relevant competencies.
  • Participated in process control projects and process control CSU activities
  • 2+ years of Yokogawa Centum VP and Yokogawa ProSafe experience.
  • Wider appreciation of Gas/LNG business processes and principles and experience in a Gas/LNG Major Project is an advantage.
  • Ability to contribute to decision support and assurance as well as organizing and/or carrying out hands on technical evaluations.
  • Sound systematic approach to technical and multi-disciplinary challenges. Strong analytical abilities having knowledge of engineering tools and simulations etc.
  • Able to integrate projects and initiatives while managing inter-cultural sensitivities and leveraging D&I. Communicate with internal and external interfaces with strong spoken and written communication skills.

 

This role requires that you:

  • Live and work in beautiful Kitimat, BC.
  • During CSU Phase work in Kitimat: 50 Hrs. per week, 10hr days, which may need to be extended to 12-hour day/night shift during critical start-up activities.

Work Location: Kitimat

  • Hours of Work: 50 Hrs. per week, 10hr days, which may need to be extended to 12-hour day/night shift during critical start-up activities.

  • Normal working pattern: 10 hours/day x 5 days per week
  • Shift pattern to support critical start-up activities: 12 hours per shift to align with team shift pattern, 7D - 7N - 4 Break. Start of shift will be communicated closer to critical start-up activities.

You will use your expertise to:

In Execute Phase

  • Support operations and other interfaces on control and safeguarding schemes whenever needed.
  • Support process control activities such as Online modifications (Tuning, configuration changes etc.), Trip investigation & trouble shooting, Alarm management support (setting and priority change), static & state base suppression logic groups fixing e.g., adding additional tags, to minimize alarm flooding etc., DCS HMI corrections, creating trend groups, PI tag creation, Controller performance monitoring for handed over systems, Compressor surge testing and start up support, Changing protective controller set points.
  • Support Process Control Technical Authorities in functional and detailed design, development, testing, safe and smooth implementation of MOC’s with process control and safeguarding scope as needed.
  • Proactively get involved in the CSU and ramp up related activities while being an active members of ADT (Asset Delivery Team) when asked.
  • Provide high quality support for process control and improvement of control and safeguarding systems for the company and interfaces.
  • Deliver process control aspects of the company in accordance with project HSE, technical standards, quality standards and procedures as defined in Contract and Project Specification, during design, construction, commissioning and start-up.
  • Optimize processes via all the techniques to improve controllerperformance. Pay special attention to control loop tests and tuning as well as putting Engineering Training Simulator to test (ETS) and position it as a scenario assessment tool.
  • Review the process control content of plant modifications/changes as well as instrument trip/alarm settings such that plant integrity remains ensured and design objectives are met.
  • Ensure documents, i.e. control and IPF narratives, system functional design specifications, etc., are maintained and as-built comments are accurately kept. Participate in required HSE activities (audits, meetings, etc.) and demonstrate (by example) safe work practices and procedures to the contractors at all times.
  • Support the implementation of control and safeguarding functionality in DCS, SGS and FGS systems.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Adhere to all Safety, Environmental, and Company policies and procedures
  • Be a safety leader in the company safety program
  • Participate in pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR)
  • Participate in incident investigations and HSE audits as assigned
  • Operate a company-provided vehicle in a safe manner while adhering to the company driving guidelines
  • Inspect gas and oil wells, tanks, meters, separators, compressors, and attached piping components for leaks or unusual conditions and take corrective actions if needed
  • Access remote locations to check wells, maintain normal operating levels, pressures and flow on separation equipment, and make adjustments to automatic and manual controls
  • Gauge tanks for sale or transfer of condensate, crude oil, and water while maintaining appropriate and accurate records
  • Ensure wells are prioritized and operated to maintain contractual obligations
  • Operate rental compressors, flowing gas wells, gas lift wells, rod pump units, submersible wells, surface pumping equipment, and test wells
  • Gather relevant data on the above mentioned equipment to and compare daily changes to both equipment and productivity
  • Adjust pumping unit run time, time clock, injection adjustment, stroke lengths, shoot fluid levels, run dynamometers, and perform basic trouble shooting
  • Utilize electronic remote well supervision, SCADA, etc., to optimize production and reduce safety and environmental impact
  • Maintain chemical injection rates, start up and shut in wells
  • Accurately enter daily volumes, well tests, down time and injection information into a computer database in a timely manner
  • Monitor daily production inputs into electric data gathering software and compare input data with output data for accuracy
  • Proactively monitor and optimize production costs within area of control
  • Perform minor hands on production equipment repairs - generate work notifications/material request for all other work that is needed for equipment reliability
  • Operate and optimize Artificial Lift Systems such as: wellhead compression, capillary strings, plunger lift, foamed injection, gas lifts and flow case equipment
  • Execute required regulatory tasks generated by SAP, such as A&OI inspections, site security, and end of the month closings
  • Take full ownership for daily operations and maintenance of assigned wells
  • Have ability to be on call and respond to call-out alarms
  • Maintain cleanliness and order on lease routes and at facilities
  • Perform detailed and effective shift handovers - communicate shift notes where applicable
  • Contribute to achieving Safety, Production, and Financial goals set by both corporate and the individual Business Units

Basic/Required:

Under the direction of the Supervisor Project Controls, provide analysis and support to the project team related to construction contract management, forecast and budget analysis, schedule review, LEMS entry, reporting of incurred costs and earned value measurements using Project Controls Cost Management System (EcoSys). The focus of this position is Field-level controls to support construction.

Functions include:
• Analyze and maintain the project contract(s) forecast and control budget at the WBS level with primary responsibility for field-level controls.
• Collecting information for project cost estimates, establishing control budgets, on-going monitoring and control of incurred project costs, cost forecasting, cost variance analysis and cost reporting to various stakeholders
• Provide the project team with accurate and timely field cost information and reporting.
• Ensure contract Controls requirements are received timely and reviewed for accuracy.
• Facilitate weekly progress meetings with contractor rep. and the Company's Construction Manager or Chief Inspector.

Working Conditions
• Field office work at desk. Use of computer and phone and personal interaction in a busy, noisy environment.
• Position work week is planned as 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, until construction starts then will have extended schedule in the field tied to construction contractor schedule.
• Walk jobsite utilizing required PPE.
• Exposure to noise, moving equipment and uneven surfaces.

8.           Closely monitors the Camp accommodation and food standard in all EPC Camps and reports deviciencies immediately to the Leadership Teams for intervention, in collaboration with PMT Head, and HSES Lead/ specialists dedicated to camps.

The Installation Engineer S-Lay reports to the Shallow Water Lead and is accountable for the engineering aspects of the Shallow Water Pipelay and Umbilical Lay using the EPCI Contractor Stingray barge. The SW Installation Engineer S-Lay Is based in Europe (The Netherlands / Paris) and is planned to be stationed on board the Solitaire during the installation of the trunklines. The job holder shall assume responsibility for the S-lay installation scope working in conjunction with his counterparts in the MTV Consortium. The job holder shall work closely with the other Installation Engineers to ensure consistency of approach exists across both the different scopes of work and that the interfaces are managed appropriately.

 

  • Ensure safe, on time and within budget delivery of the S-lay related elements of the EPCI scope of work whilst ensuring a high level of quality consistent with a project design life of 30 years.
  • Monitor and manage all facets of work within the SW scope of work to ensure that schedule, technical, quality and HSES requirements are, as a minimum, met or improved upon.
  • Oversee a readiness process to ensure a progressive preparation is made by both contractor and company towards the start of site activities and that this is documented.
  • Bring to the earliest attention, all issues which present a significant threat to the Project and in addition offer mitigating measures / work plans.
  • Provide reporting function towards Shallow Water Lead for the SW rigid pipelines installation activities.

Project Insights

  • Major sustaining capital projects for an existing mine site. Developing two (2) additional ore bodies.
  • Main design endeavors will be bulk earthworks, water transport & management, low voltage powerlines and comms.
  • New non-process-infrastructure haul road networks (civil earthworks), gas pipeline crossing, LV access roads, surface water management (waterway crossing), connection/extension to existing raw water distribution, satellite NPI facilities, communications infrastructure.
  • First 6 months will be basic design. Then transition to detailed design. A good 18 months minimum of work in the schedule.
  • Client will utilise existing plant, stockyards, and TLO.


Candidate Requirements

• Identify and advise any potential procurement risks (cost and schedule), both with the EP and the Company’s Project Management Team
• Advise, review, and approve documents such as Project Procurement Plans/Strategies, Bid Lists, Bid Waivers, and Commercial Bid Tabulations that EPs prepare.
• Attend all Procurement status update meetings at the EP with the Company Project Management Team
• Facilitate communication between SCM, project management, and/or supplier to support resolution of Purchase Order issues/concerns.
• Provide guidance and leadership to EP Procurement teams, where necessary, during negotiations with selected suppliers to procure materials/services.
• Assist Company’s Project Management Teams, where necessary, during negotiations with selected suppliers to procure materials/services.
• Maintain positive relationships with suppliers while challenging and motivating them to optimize service outcomes and ensuring Purchase Orders are actively managed throughout their lifecycle
• Work collaboratively with team and stakeholders to deliver required outcomes in accordance with schedule.
• Research and establish communication with potential new suppliers, including shop visits, audits, and enrollment support.
• Assist in the resolution of escalated issues involving suppliers (warranty claims, back-charges),
• Create contracts to Engineering Firms for specific projects along with contract administration as required, ensuring all contracts are executed per defined approval limits and Company’s Policies
• Work collaboratively with team and stakeholders to deliver required outcomes in accordance with schedule.
• Work closely with Company’s legal department to manage the negotiation of Purchase Order Terms and Conditions
• Work closely with Company’s accounting groups to facilitate/support any invoicing and payment issues with Suppliers (OpenInvoice)

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain
• Experience purchasing goods/materials such as pipe, valves, fittings, E&I material, packaged/fabricated equipment (i.e., modules), pumps, vessels, buildings, spooling, structural steel
• Experienced in Change Management, Claim Management, Risk Management, and Financial Management activities
• Strong working knowledge of ERP SAP
• Prior direct experience with Projects within the Oil & Gas Industry
• Strong understanding of pre-award (RFx) through to post-award processes for procuring material/goods
• Strong drive for results whilst ensuring safe and quality performance by contractors.
• MS Office applications experience
• Ability to travel within Calgary
• Post-secondary education or SCMP certification or degree would be considered an asset
• Previous experience working for an Engineering Firm would be considered an asset.

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours/week – possibility to choose 1 day to work from home, either Mondays or Fridays.

Primary Purpose: Responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment, including troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment/devices.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair a wide array of automation and electrical equipment associated with upstream onshore oil and gas producing operations.
  • Provide on-site automation support for upstream onshore oil and gas producing operations.
  • Serve as a technical resource for facility control systems and field instrumentation, including level, pressure, flow, vibration, and other instruments.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with relevant industry and corporate Process Control standards.
  • Follow PLC programming practices, standards, and MOC procedures.
  • Identify problem areas with instrumentation and control systems to determine strategic improvement opportunities.
  • Leverage CMMS, such as SAP, to facilitate maintenance operations processes.

Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Competencies:
