Our major client, in the Oil & Gas industry, is seeking a HR Generalist to work within their facilities located in Fairbanks, AK.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct end to end recruitment, in line with site requirements and budgeting.
- Prepare employment contracts/agreements and new starter packs for new employees.
- Coordinate onboarding of new employees.
- Enter data regarding new employees and coordinate reporting and audit compliance on a monthly basis.
- Provide human resources generalist support, advice and assistance to all site personnel
- Provide accurate information for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, including manpower budgeting, remuneration and market trend analysis.
- Coordinate new employee visas as required and review ongoing visa eligibility to meet legislative requirements on a monthly basis.
- Develop, implement and review HR systems, policies and procedures as required.
- Communicate and/or elevate any issues or areas of concern to the HR Manager.
- Provide advice and support to Supervisors/Managers relating to performance management, disciplinary processes and EEO.
- Assist in the site annual performance review process, ensuring that all employees participate.
- Support various site wide training initiatives and career development programs when required.
- Participate in various HR related projects and initiatives as needed.
- Liaise and assist the Safety Department with injury management and Workers’ Compensation claims when required.
- Attend and participate in HR team meetings when scheduled.
- Responsible for specialized tasks related to overseeing department’s budget, benefits administration, recruitment, HRIS, compensation, FLSA, FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, Camp Life programs and facilities, and employee relations.
- Interpret and apply complex laws, rules, and regulations.
- Assist with questions regarding HR practices, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor compliance with applicable HR policies and procedures.
- Review actions to ensure conformance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in completion of employment documents (e.g. offer letters, FML designation notices to employees).
- Perform personnel data entry. Conduct exit interviews.
- Receive, process, and track HR documents. Follow up on missing information.
- Investigate and resolve questions and HR related incidents.
- Create and implement recommendations to address issues.
- Gather, analyze and compile employee data for applicable reports.
- Send required and requested information to identified recipients.
- Accurately maintain files.
- Coordinate audits and compliance testing.
- Create, deliver, and assess trainings and presentations.
- Track trainings conducted.
- Make recommendations to HR Manager in areas of expertise.
- Advise and communicate with employees regarding benefits, company policies and laws that pertain to their specific situation.
- Process billing for HR vendors.
- Review and approve related invoices.
- Assist with purchase requisition process for HR.
- Coordinate Open Enrollment.
- Process year end functions and benefit roll overs
Required skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Training in project management and logistical support preferred
- Five years relevant work experience in HR generalist role or several areas of HR expertise.
- A working knowledge of all applicable HR laws, rules, and regulations (e.g. COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, discrimination laws, Worker’s Compensation, and FLSA).
- Knowledge of payroll, HRIS systems, benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations, and compensation.
- Computer literacy – Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office suite and advanced skills in Excel and Word.
- Advanced critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
- Expert level written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company.
- Current Driver’s License.
- Be able to pass a background check and post-offer physical.
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR or SPHR certification.
- Knowledge of the auditing process.
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in the mining industry.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to present information in training sessions clearly and confidently.
- Calm demeanor; able to effectively defuse escalation or conflicts.
- Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
- Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
Work Schedule: 15 Days On, 13 Days Off, 12-hour Days
