The MacIntyre Wind Farm will be ACCIONA’s largest ever wind farm in Australia, with a total capacity of 1,026MW. The project will boost the Queensland government's decarbonisation strategy, mobilising total investments of AU$1.96 billion (€1 billion). Construction is underway and the entire MacIntyre complex is scheduled to be fully operational in 2024.
This position is employed within the ACCIONA Energy project team. The role is based at the MacIntyre Wind Farm construction site, which is located near Warwick in southeast Queensland.
Airswift is working with Acciona Energia, a leading organisation in the Global Wind market and is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join their project team based on the Macintyre wind farm project in SE Queensland.
This is a hands on role where you are required to use initiative to deliver the very highest of health, safety & environmental policies, complying to Global standards and localised Queensland Environmental requirements.
- Oversee the project health and safety plan and system, specific to the project health and safety strategy and objectives
- Influence the development and implementation of health and safety requirements specific to procurement, engineering and construction works
- Initiate HSE campaigns across the site to promote and re-enforce safety behaviours for all project and contractor teams
- Manage and plan for internal and external audits to confirm compliance with regulatory, certification and other business requirements
- Lead incident investigation and management activities
- Prepare and maintain appropriately structured project HSE documentation registers
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities that come with being the Principal Contractor.
- Coordinate HSE activities across the project
- Manage the HSE activities of the HSE team members, project team and contractors to ensure appropriate management and supervision is present and objectives are achieved
- Lead a small team of HSE professionals, providing coaching and mentoring to facilitate empowered employees who can work autonomously as required
- Monitor technical resources and junior staff in performing site health, safety and environment inspections and maintain HSE control records.
Experience;
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as a HSE professional working in the construction industry including experience working with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) and Office of Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC).
- Degree qualification or relevant industry experience in a related field; or an appropriate qualification with relevant construction industry and high-risk environment experience.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities that come with being the Principal Contractor.
- Manage and coordinate the activities of technical and junior resources.
- Collaborative approach and high-level interpersonal skills with demonstrated capacity to influence positive outcomes with team members, stakeholders, contractors and regulators.
- Demonstrated capacity to work both autonomously and within the team environment; use initiative; solve problems through analytical thinking; & make decisions within an intense construction environment.
- Flexibility to travel as required.
