Responsibilities:
- Plans / Defines the design deliverables (referring to the contract), design sequencing & stages
- Defines production schedule & personnel requirements (with Planner, input from Design Coord.)
- Plans, checks, monitors & reports on design progress (with Planner, input from Design Coord.)
- Oversees design efficiency and hours utilisation.
- Set freeze dates and major revision issue dates (e.g. 30%/IFD, 60%, 90%/IFT, IFC)
- Revision control management is properly executed (incl. drawings statusing, rack mgt etc…)
- Leads Project Design Meetings (internal & external)
- Chair project design reviews
- Sets formats of design reports, presentations and design reviews
- Ensures Peer reviews are planned and executed.
- Manages/Issues the design SOP’s to be used on the project
- Ensures Design coordinators agree CAD Standards at project outset
- Defines and Implements the Document Control procedures, and ensures Doc Control executes
- •Ensures equipment and component tagging, symbology formats are agreed
- Issues any client design guides and ensures engineers, design coordinators / designers follow it
- Ensures review and update of standard detail drawings, and maintained properly.
- • Implement procurement strategy (package list) into design planning and sequencing
- • Identifies design changes to project manager, Participate in design change evaluation process
- • Liases with / oversees the Design Coordinator(s)
- • Ensure that design cordination meetings happen and are effective
- • Oversee key that interfacing points are managed
- (e.g. Archi with C&S backgrounds, BMS [Process/Mech/Elec/ELV] et cetera…)
- • Defines format and tracks all design co-ordination tools, including Room Book, Loadlist, Interface Matrix, Facility Interface Matrix and all interdisciplinary interfaces and data management issues.
- • Responsible for ensuring facilities CSA requirements are captured (such as louvres, trenches, sumps, penetrations, openings, plinths embeds/cast-ins etc).
- • Ensures required building sections are identified (also consulting with PM / client / Des Coord.)
- • Liaises with / oversees performance of QP’s / other 3rd party consultants
- • Ensure Authority submissions are planned, accurate and technically complete.
- • Ensure external incoming utility services are planned
- • Manages external / 3rd party design reviews through to closure (e.g. insurers etc…)
- • Ensures lessons learnt are compiled, briefs Heads of Department (HODs) and supervises the updates of the Lesson Learnt register.
