We are a leading business in the testing, inspection and certification industry with over 40 years' experience in providing support to the agriculture, government & trade solutions, minerals & metals and food safety industries. We help our clients facilitate safe and profitable trade on a global scale.

The Position
Due to continued success and growth throughout the business we are now searching for a Business Operations Manager to oversee our operations based in Spain. To lead and develop the local operations, team and commercial activities with a specific focus in non-ferrous concentrates and metals.
Aside from being responsible for operations based in Spain, you will also be an active member of the global metals & minerals division for the business. We're looking for an entrepreneurial, natural leader with a desire to genuinely contribute to businesses growth within their sector.

The Responsibilities
Regarding Spanish operations your responsibilities would be:

  • Managing all aspects of the local operations both technical and commercial
  • Developing, mentoring and managing the contingent of local staff (providing technical expertise and industry insight)
  • Co-ordinate potential accreditation(s), quality managements and ISO 9001 certification

Regarding your involvement with global metals and minerals operations your responsibilities would be:

  • Operational leadership over existing and new set-ups in Metals & Minerals projects - assisting the development of services
  • Providing insight into current market competition in the non-ferrous and other metal and minerals sectors.
  • Benchmark the efficiency of minerals operations / laboratories globally
  • Assist with the development and selection of divisional staff, including training and recruitment

Fluent English and Spanish language skills are essential for success in this role. Other European languages are of benefit but not mandatory.

The Experience and Education

  • University degree in Geology or Civil engineering, ideally completed with a post-graduation in business management
  • Proven experience in a leading position within the Metals & Minerals sector, with successful growth development / technical expansion projects and strong focus on commercial awareness
  • Proven management/leadership experience in an international/multi-cultural context, within a multi laboratory context.
  • Understand, apply minerals processing and chemistry principles and available technology
  • Extensive knowledge of metals and minerals sample processing, of FMP/TML determination and of industry accepted weighing methods, including but not limited to draft surveys
  • Written, presentational and verbal communication skill, in English
